Today I am hoping on to Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl. Today’s topic is top ten books on your shelf you want to read soon. Some of these books are on my physical shelf and some are in digital form on my Kindle, or if they aren’t, they will be.

- Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis
2. The Two Towers by J.R.R. Tolkien (my son and I read The Fellowship of the Rings last year and The Hobbit a few years ago for school so now I want to read this one)
3. The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery
4. The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas
5. Crooked House by Agatha Christie
6. James Herriott: A Memoir of My Father by Jim Wight.
7. Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor (this would actually be a reread for me since I read it when I was like 10 but don’t remember a lot of it.)
8. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle
9. The House of Silk by Anthony Horowitz
10. The Complete Father Brown Collection by G.K. Chesterton.
It was hard to find ten books at first and then it was hard to narrow it down as I thought of a few others as I got toward the end.
Have you read some of these or are they on your list?

There are many wonderful classics on your book list! I own a compilation collection of Sherlock Holmes novels as I loved the 1950s TV production when I was a child.

Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry is on my list of my favorite books of all time. Such a powerful read. That book allowed me to really step into the shoes of others.
The Blue Castle is a book I read when a blogging friend said it was her favorite book. I liked it a lot, too.

I have The Blue Castle on my physical shelves as well, waiting to be read. I hope we both enjoy it. Have a great week!

I have not read any of these; though my son is making his way through the Lord of the Rings series and just loves them.

I did not expect to love them as much as I did. I had to push through the repeated descriptions of the forests they walked through but when I did, I fell in love with the characters and found myself crying over them even! Good grief! Who knew it would suck me in!

I read all of the books by J.R.R. Tolkien decades ago, but I couldn’t really tell you much about them. I also watched all the movies. I also read Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry but, again, I don’t remember much about it. It looks like you’ve got lots of different genres.

I don’t stick to one genre very often. 🙂

I like Moriarty so I know I will like House of Silk too. I just need to pull it to the top of my list.

I don’t think I’ve read The House of Silk or the Agatha Christie, I’ve read Father Brown, Sherlock, Mere Christianity, The Blue Castle, Roll of Thunder, and probably The Count of Monte Crisco, but don’t ask me to take a test on any of them! I’m terrible at remembering what I read. I remember Father Brown was a product of it’s time, not the Father Brown of the television show. Roll of Thunder was one I read as a kid a couple of times.

That’s it! I’m giving you a test on all of them now! Haha! Just kidding, of course. (the word test just gave me PTSD from school. You? *wink*)
And yes, I believe Father Brown is a product of it’s time. I’ve started in the past and also listened some on audio. Very interesting plots, though.

If you give me multiple choice with only one choice I can pass. hahaha. I had similar thoughts on Father Brown. Reading literature of the past can help us understand history, I think. The good and the bad.
