Last week was very cold and I chatted about it a bit on my Saturday Afternoon Chat yesterday, if you’d like to go read that.
Today is a day of relaxing and taking part in the Crafternoon zoom event with some other ladies and Erin from Still Life, With Cracker Crumbs. We are going to do crafts and chat on Zoom. It should be fun.
I am still reading the same books but have added Frankenstein which I will start this week to read with The Boy for school. I had planned to start reading it last week but got caught up in Christy and Bourdain: The Definitive Oral Biography by Laurie Woolever. I won’t lie — I am probably going to listen to Frankenstein on Audible with Dan Stevens narrating it. I’ve already listened to about five minutes and after seeing him in The Man Who Invented Christmas, I know he can pull off the voices and intonation needed for the story.
In February I hope to read more of Little Men by Louisa Mae Alcott, The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman, and The Sign of the Twisted Candles by Carolyn Keene.
The Husband is reading a book by Nelson Demille that I forgot the name of.
Little Miss is reading Harry Potter: The Prisoner of Azkaban.
Last week I watched Gunga Din. Yeah…so that was interesting … and I blogged about it. I also watched a lot of Edwardian Farm and an episode of All Creatures Great and Small (the newer ones).
I am getting ready to release Gladwynn Grant Shakes The Family Tree, the third book in my cozy mystery series February 19 (or maybe sooner). If you want to know more about it or pre-order an ebook copy, you can click HERE.
This Friday I will also start sharing a serial version of the first book in the series Gladwynn Grant Gets Her Footing. Blog readers can follow along each week or choose to purchase the book instead on Amazon.
This week on the blog I shared:
- Saturday Afternoon Chat: Cold weather, evil, spell-casting cats, and family history
- Classic Movie Impressions (Winter of Douglas Fairbanks Jr.): Gunga Din
- Weekend Traffic Jam Reboot: Come Link Up With Us!!
- Civil War Letters From My Ancestors Part II: The Fate of a Brother
- Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Most Recent Additions to my Book Collection
- Sunday Bookends: It’s cold. No. Really cold. Reading the same books but planning for others. Crafternoon Again! And some podcasts I want to listen to.
I also wanted to mention that I share photos, memes, reels, and other things on Instagram if you would like to follow me there.
I also started a YouTube channel where I share shorts only for similar content (books, writing, cozy mysteries) and you can find that here: https://youtube.com/@goodbooksandtea?si=xbn6zYq0rnAT9Uj7
Now It’s Your Turn!
What are you reading, watching, writing, doing, listening to …. Etc. etc. I’d love to know. Let me know in the comments.
This post is linked up with The Sunday Post at Kimba at Caffeinated Reviewer, Stacking the Shelves with Reading Reality, The Sunday Salon with Deb at Readerbuzz, and Book Date: It’s Monday! What are you reading hosted by Kathyrn at The Book Date.

Dan Stevens narrating anything would be great!
I used to like reading Nelson Demille book but I think it has been a good 25 years since I read one! I do still have some on my shelf.

My husband says the one he is reading is his best and the others are…well…okay, he supposes. Ha!

Congratulations on starting a YouTube channel. Occasionally I watch some BookTubers on there. Or find crochet videos 😉 Have a great week, it will be a little warmer! I think we might see our snow melt away.

The audio of Frankenstein sounds like the way to go. Seems like you have been busy. Fun starting a You Tube channel.

Sounds like you are keeping very busy. I’ve never read Frankenstein but do think listening to it would be the way to go. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

I think I’ll get through it better if I listen to it – at least partially. Thanks for stopping by.

I really liked Dan Stevens in Downton Abbey and could swear I saw him in something else. I know I did because his hair was dyed a different color…oh, well! I just started We Solve Murders by Richard Osman. I’m only a few pages in and can tell it’s going to be a good one. It’s supposed to be the start of a new series though I’d love him to write another for the Thursday Murder Club series. We are still watching “Younger” which is just stupid.

I haven’t even read the Thursday Murder Club yet but am sure I’ll try We Solve Murders at some poit. Dan Stevens has been in a number of movies over the years. I watched him in The Man Who Invented Christmas and I think he was in the third Night at the Museum movie too. I’m sure he’s been in a lot more, but I haven’t seen those other movies yet.

I binged the latest season of All Creatures. It hit the spot during our recent spell of winter weather.

I can’t binge it since Masterpiece will only put it up on Amazon after it has been aired on PBS (do people even have cable anymore??) — unless I wait for it all to go up before I watch it. Where do you watch it?

PBS Passport is a benefit of being a member of my local PBS station. That allows me to stream PBS shows on my computer or on my TV using their app. It’s my favorite “streaming service” because I feel like I’m contributing to my community at the same time, and it offers a huge variety of shows.

I’ve listened to Dan Stevens narrate an Agatha Christie now and loved his voice. Bet he did a great job with Frankenstein, too!

Crafternoon- what a fun idea. I’m working on finishing “Vinyl Resting Place” for the Cozy Mystery Book Club live stream on Tuesday.

We will do another one on February 8 if you want to join in! And I wanted to read that one! I forgot! I will have to skip the livestream so I don’t get any spoilers.

I think I would love to listen to Dan Stevens read Frankenstein. It’s one of my favorite classics, although it makes me feel sad.

I began Little Men last week. I’m fascinated with the idea of operating a home for difficult boys and I’m quite taken with the character, Dan, in the story.
I enjoyed reading your thoughts about being a writer. I shall send those to my friends in my writing group. Sometimes we think, Why are we doing this? and your post is something for us to consider.

Yes, sometimes we have to realize that we often write simply because we enjoy it! It’s fun and I feel like writing is somewhat like breathing to me…even if no one reads it.
