It’s time for our Sunday morning chat. On Sundays, I ramble about what’s been going on, what the rest of the family and I have been reading and watching, and what I’ve been writing. Some weeks I share what I am listening to.
This week I’m joining up with Kimba at Caffeinated Reviewer, Deb at Readerbuzz, and Kathyrn at The Book Date.

What’s Been Occurring
We had a threat of flash flooding Friday thanks to the remnants of Hurricane Debby but in the end the pattern moved to our west and Westfield, Pa., which is a couple hours from us, was hit extremely hard. Some areas around us had some issues but nothing like Westfield.
Temperatures have cooled way down and now that we are moving toward Autumn (which I wanted) I am feeling somewhat melancholy, knowing that our days of swimming are coming to an end. Little Miss and I haven’t been swimming in two weeks due to either algae in the pool that had to be treated, a leak that was found and fixed, or chlorine that was too high. We are going to try again today but with temps only supposed to get in the low 70s I have a feeling we won’t be in long.
The days are already getting shorter – I’ve noticed that it is dark by 8:30 now. The cats are looking for more snuggles than before and we are now preparing for the start of the school year.
I have almost all the curriculum we need for the year but I do need a couple of things still for The Boy, who is a senior this year and will be attending a local trade school again this year.
What I/we’ve been Reading
Trouble Shooter by Louis L’Amour
Renee by Sandra Ardoin

What We watched/are Watching
Since I last posted a Sunday Bookends I have watched a lot but I didn’t write it all down so I might not remember everything.
I know I watched a couple of summer movies – Mr. Hobbs Takes A Vacation and Summertime.
I have started Somewhere in Time but I haven’t finished it yet.
I watched Ladies in Lavender and a couple marathons of Murder She Wrote as well as an episode of Yes, Minister with my mom.

Thank you so much for mentioning my blog! I can’t believe your son is already almost done with school, so I hope all of you have a fantastic school year. And I hope your days have been continuing to cool off. I wish I could say the same of where I am, but we’re in the middle of another heat wave. Winter has been sounding better and better every day.

Our temps are going to go back up toward the 80s this weekend and next week so we aren’t done with summer yet. Sigh.

After that last heat wave, we got another worse one, so the past week has been fun. I hope your temperatures are going and staying down. Even though we’re reaching 108 or thereabouts today, it’ll be nice to know someone out there is enjoying better temperatures.

Thanks for sharing my post. My husband used to be a big Louis L’Amour fan. I’m pretty sure he’s read every book by that author and we even owned most of them too. It’s been much cooler here too and definitely feels like fall. I’m ready!

I’m reading this one slowly but I am enjoying it. I wouldn’t say it is my normal read. That’s okay, though. It is fun to try something new!

I know what you mean. I keep trying to read something different from books I get at the library. But bring them home and find as I’m reading something objectionable, foul or vulgar language and I’m like “Nope!” So I stick to things written either long ago or that I know are clean.

That’s what I have to do as well lately. I have been finding some clean cozy mysteries at least. They still feature some topics I am not comfortable with at times.

Thank you so much Lisa for mentioning me. I haven’t been on much since an estranged cousin of mine found my site, but I do try to write when I can and visit my favorite bloggers, and you with your great stories and beautiful photos have always been at the top of my list. We moved about a year ago but I have kept that hidden kind of from my site which is hard because I love sharing all our adventures with my pen pal blogger friends. It’s a tricky situation and the more I address it, the bigger the problem it becomes, so I just try to block, and stay out of the battles as they say. It looks like your family is doing great and I always like to read that. Keep up the good work, you’re a great mom. God bless you and yours always.

My daughter is in the deeps of ordering & organizing curriculum too. With all the changes in this world, we are thankful for homeschooling! She’s trying to get a group of families together for a casual “co-op” this year for the first time. Hopefully that will be a nice boost for everyone! Blessings for your family’s school year, and congratulations to the boy’s senior year!

I hope she does well with the co-op. We have one near us but it isn’t very relaxed so I am unable to commit this year with all I have going on in my life these days. I hope we can do it next year.

We got lots and lots of rain on Friday too but thankfully no flooding or any major problems; though we did lose power for a bit on Saturday (when it was nice and sunny and all the wind had died down weirdly enough). Best of luck with the new school year!

That seems to be when our power goes out too! It’s so weird!

The last three days have been just glorious here. I’m looking forward to fall, too. It’s just such a cozy time. Mike and I used to go on a bus trip to Mackinac Island and stay at the Grand Hotel where Somewhere in Time was filmed. I had never seen the movie and watched it one time when they showed it on the bus on the way home. I would love to live on the island, but I don’t have any skills or tons of money to do so!
I hope it warms up a titch so you and Little Miss can get a few more days of swimming in.

Unlike you, I’m not at all happy that summer is ending and fall weather is coming! I could use quite a few more days/weeks/even months of nice weather. Since you are in tune with the Universe, you’ll get what you hope for.

I’d be happy if it would at least cool down at night. It’s those eighty-degree nights that frustrate me. I’m looking forward to fall, but it won’t get here at all for at least two more months.
Good luck with the upcoming school year. Senior year sounds challenging.

The higher temps are night are the worst. I could maybe handle hot days better if the nights were cooler!
