The 500 subscriber milestone … exciting? A little.

I hit 500 subscribers to this blog at the end of last week.

On one hand that is pretty cool. On another hand I have a feeling some of those bloggers subscribe because they are looking for me to reciprocate. The issue is that many of those who subscribe never comment here so I have no idea who they are which means I’d probably never subscribe to their blog. I’m old school and think of blogging as a social activity of sorts. We exchange ideas or share a little bit of ourselves and others do the same in the comments.

I’d like to know who you all are, in other words so, please, feel free to introduce yourself in the comments. I love to get to know the bloggers who follow me. It was really nice to have some of you tell me about yourselves last week on the post where I shared about myself and the blog.

For those who are new to the blog, you may have noticed I blog a little bit a lot of things here. I share some posts about my faith (usually entitled Faithfully Thinking), I share fiction (usually on Fridays and sometimes on Thursdays), I share photographs, and I share what I’m reading/watching/doing on Sundays. In other words, I sort of share whatever comes to my mind at any given moment (scary, I know.).

If you are interested in reading some of my fiction you can find link to excerpts from my book A Story to Tell HERE and A New Beginning HERE. You can also follow my novels in progress, The Farmer’s Daughter (I’ve been publishing new chapters on Fridays) at the link of the top of the page (or HERE) and Fully Alive HERE.

Welcome to the new subscribers and hello to the old. Glad to have you visiting my corner of the world.

  1. Congratulations! I know what you mean about some of the followers. I got quite a few in one day a few days ago and it makes me wonder what was going on. They all seemed spammy and almost like the same person.

  2. Congrats! Haha, maybe? I can’t agree more that what’s really nice is the interaction. I have far too many followers, and most of them I can’t fathom why they followed unless it’s to get me to follow back. It’s the one thing that drives me crazy about blogs and other social media. A follow is nice, a like is nice, but a comment is like a chunk of gold. On the bright side, more followers might mean more friends! At least, one can hope.

  3. I never comment because I’m tired. The last time I went to the grocery store, someone asked me how old my baby was and I couldn’t remember. Lol.

    • Don’t get me wrong. I don’t mean that everyone means to comment, but I mean, sometimes people just follow you so you will follow them because they are selling something. I probably should have explained that better. Well, anyhow…numbers are numbers and I like the interaction more is what I mean.

I remember those days of not remembering not only how old my baby was but where I even was. Hang in there!!!

  4. Dear Lisa,
Yes, I understand that “kinda” because it is hard to know where those numbers really come from! But I am also like you, that the connecting is such a beautiful gift. When I first started blogging I had no idea the way that God was going to bring sweet connections through it all. I’m grateful you are one of those connections!

    • And I am also grateful you are one of mine. You have taught me so much about how to handle my health issues better and how to draw close to God even when I don’t understand. And how to be raw and real about it all at the same time!
What a divine intervention finding your blog!!!

  5. Congrats on the milestone! I don’t pay much attention to the number of subscribers any more. It seems a very small minority actually read my blog and/or comment. A lot of those who “follow” seem to be selling something or are not legitimate sites, so I don’t engage with any of them. I usually look up the IP address of new subscribers to see where they’re coming from and click on their profiles to see what’s written there (if anything) as well. I’m pretty picky about which blogs I follow.

    • I’m picky as well and yes, most of them seem to just be selling something and don’t comment or interact anyhow. That’s one reason I was like “I guess it is cool but … some of these followers are fake sites… so….” lol.

  6. Congrats! Kinda?? Lol! I just hit 400 and I feel the same way. An average of 25 people ready my posts each time. Even fewer comment on them, needless to say, I’m also not impressed by numbers but by connection. However, I’m so blessed by the few I have connected with that it takes away the disappointment of not being the most popular blog around 😜
Did you get my email? I’m looking forward to reading more of your work!

    • Thank you! I really just enjoy the interaction. that isn’t a thing I say when I actually mean I wish I had more readers. I really don’t want more readers. I like a small knit group because the bigger you get, the more chance people can be offended and just ruin the experience! And I just answered your second email 😉

  7. Congratulations, Lisa! 🙂 Blogging is definitely, in my mind, a social activity and if that makes me old-school as well, then I am glad to be counted in your company! Ahem, I still haven’t read the Farmer’s Daughter, but gosh darn it, I’m going to! God Bless!

    • 😂😂 no worries! I am reading so many books right now and am so behind so I get it! I’ve told people I’d read them but there is only so much time in a day! I am enjoying the ones I am getting read for people, though, and I’ll mention them on Sunday.
