This week the prompt was: Oldest (aka Earliest Published) Books On My TBR (submitted by Nicole @ BookWyrm Knits)
I wrote mine in order from earliest to latest:
Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen (1813)
Emma by Jane Austen (1815)
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas and Auguste Maquet (1844 to 1846)
A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens (1859)
Jo’s Boys by Louisa May Alcott (1886)
Little Men by Louisa May Alcott (1871)
Emily of New Moon by L.M. Montgomery (1923)
Jane of Lantern Hill by L.M. Montgomery (1937)
Mere Christianity by CS Lewis (1952)
What are some of the oldest books on your TBR?

Great list and covers. I donated my copy of The Count of Monte Cristo to the library years ago when I admitted to myself I’d never read it lol. Happy reading when you get to these.

Sometimes we just have to admit when we are never going to read something and this very well may happen to me too! lol!

Amazing list! I haven’t read any of these books either but they are all books I’d like to read in the future. Especially Emma and Jo’s boys, I loved Little Women so much but sadly haven’t been able to read Jo’s Boys yet. I hope you’ll love these books when you read them 🙂

I feel like I am forever behind on reading books I want to read.

I love ANNE OF GREEN GABLES and have read it many times as well as a few of the other books in the series, but I’ve never read anything else by Montgomery. I should. I hope you enjoy all these when you get to them!
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

If you are going to read anything else by her I highly recommend The Blue Castle.

I hope you enjoy all of these when you get a chance to read them. I am still not sure if I really want to read the Austen books on my list.

Next year The Classics Club is celebrating Jane Austen’s birthday by having a year-long readalong of her books. It should be fun.
By far, the best adventure book I ever read was The Count of Monte Cristo. I suggested it to my f-t-f book club last night. All they said was, “1,138 pages?! I don’t think so.”

That Jane Austen readalong sounds very fun!
Haha! That is a lot of pages. It will probaby be a slow read for me.

I’ve never seen that edition of Sense & Sensibility. Very cool!
And oh, I totally forgot about Jo’s Boys, that actually IS on my active TBR. You’d think having finally read Little Men I’d have continued to roll right along, but…false.

I don’t continue right along in series of books either. I jump all over the place depending on my mood.

Right now, I can’t think of any. Wuthering Heights is my absolute favorite book of all time, but it’s not on my TBR unless it could count as a reread! I do like to read it over and over again. I am truly stumped, and I will be thinking about it forever now!

Great list! I read A Tale of Two Cities in high school and it was one of the few assigned books that I seriously enjoyed. I hope you enjoy these when you read them!

I immediately thought this list could be taken 1 of two ways; by the actual literal oldest book according to publication date or the order in which I bought that books that are all sitting on my nightstand (and usually get passed by for the ones I just picked up at the library!). I am really determined to start reading some of the actual physical books I own though!
